What is RSS?
RSS is short for Rich Site Syndication or also known as Really Simple Syndication. It is a format to collect informations easily. RSS aggregators will show if there is any updates for the ones you bookmarked ( ex. blogs, news, and forecasts) as a RSS. In the dictionary "Aggregator" is defined as "a website or program that collects related items of content and displays them or links to them". RSS aggregators could be divided in several different types, Web browser type: You can add RSS from your browser (Internet Explorer7, Firefox etc) Hosting type: You can add from your websites (Google Reader, My Yahoo! etc) Mailer type: You can add from your mail app (Thunderbird, Headline-Reader etc) Ticker type: You install it and you will be able to check (pop-up) on your desktop computer (MQRssReader, Rabbit Ticker etc) When it comes to picking one of these, it depends on what you feel is more convenient.
